VORTECH MODES
FLOW
LAGOON MODE
Lagoon mode simulates a low-energy lagoon environment. The speed of the pump is changed slowly to recreate the gentle currents of a lagoon.
REEF CREST MODE
Reef Crest Random mode simulates a high-energy reef environment. The pump will change speed frequently and drastically to simulate crashing waves and surging tide. This is a favorite of SPS coral.
GYRE MODE
Gyre mode creates a pattern of flow that has uniform clockwise and *counterclockwise flow levels at a selected interval between two seconds and two hours. *Alternating directional gyre requires multiple pumps.
SHORT PULSE MODE
Short Pulse mode creates a pattern consisting of equal low and high levels pulsing at an interval of your choice between 0.2 seconds and 2 seconds.
TIDAL SWELL MODE
Tidal Swell mode (TSM) generates a harmonic balance reminiscent of natural changing flow conditions. The flow pattern will change from chaotic to calm over several hours, followed by a detritus-clearing surge at the end of the cycle. Every cycle, the flow direction will change.
NUTRIENT TRANSPORT MODE
In a two-phase program, the Nutrient Transport Mode (NTM) generates circulation. The first phase involves the use of wave motion to stir up detritus. The detritus is then moved into the overflow and out of the aquarium during the second phase, which is characterized by a surging motion. For sensitive corals like SPS, this mode promotes maximum health, nutrient export, and increased growth.
FUNCTION
FEED MODE
With feed mode, VorTech® wirelessly enabled pumps will temporarily pause their current mode and idle, allowing food to be added to the tank without cycling through the overflow and filtration.
NIGHT MODE
Pumps can be set to run a gentler nighttime program that simulates calmer ocean conditions during the night.

CAPABILITY
MULTI-PUMP COMMUNICATION
All VorTech® pumps with the letter “w” include an RF module. The RF module will enable up to eight “w” pumps of any type to operate in sync, anti-sync, or coordinated modes.
ECOSMART LIVE VIA MOBILE DEVICE
All VorTech® pumps with the letter “w” are compatible with ReefLink®. ReefLink provides completely wireless access to the world of EcoSmart Live, EcoTech Marine’s web-based aquarium command center.
BATTERY BACKUP MODE
Blizzard. Hurricane. A car collides with a utility pole. Things happen. The electricity goes out… The EcoTech® Battery Backup accessory is compatible with all VorTech® pumps.
BATTERY BACKUP COMPATIBLE
Fish and corals can die in as little as 4 to 10 hours in an aquarium with no flow. The Battery Backup is reef tank insurance housed in an aluminum enclosure.
By adding the Battery Backup**, your tank is protected from power outages, protecting both your valuable investment and the tank’s inhabitants.
** A Vectra Battery Backup Booster is required for optimal performance when using a return pump configuration.
