Description

Say Goodbye to Manually Testing for Calcium, Alkalinity, or Magnesium in your Reef!

An automatic testing device called the Trident checks the alkalinity, calcium, and magnesium levels in your saltwater aquarium on a regular basis. It then sends the results to your Apex so you can receive notifications and adjust your dosage. It produces a completely automated system for the correct dosage of supplements, maintaining them at consistent levels, when paired with the DOS (separately sold).

  • Automatically performs Calcium, Alkalinity, and Magnesium tests
  • Includes 1-month of reagent
  • Combine with Neptune DoS for automated dosing
  • Programmable alerts for out of range parameters
  • Data is graphed for easy to comprehend tank stats
  • Can be set-up and integrated with your Apex in less than 15 minutes
  • Empties used reagents and sample into an external vessel (not included)
  • Up to one month of testing before reagents need changing; based on 4-Alk, 2-Ca, 2-Mg tests per day

Note: Requires Neptune Apex or ApexEL with an open 1Link OR a 24V Power and Aquabus cable

How It Works

A self-contained automated titration colorimeter, the Trident. Let’s put it as simply as we can because it is definitely a mouthful. When you test your water, you already do a color-changing titration and evaluate the findings. The Trident essentially automates this process.

The Trident meticulously blends its reagents with a little bit of aquarium water sample on a regular basis. It is measuring (titrating with a fine peristaltic pump) the quantities of each required to achieve the desired color change as it works. (determined by the electronic colorimeter). It transfers this sample/reagent fluid to your garbage container after the titration is complete. It then interprets the results of that test and logs the value into your Apex.

Easy Plug & Play Setup

In just 15 minutes, testing had moved from the box! There are no chemicals to mix, tubes to cut, pumps to calibrate, or probes to calibrate, in contrast to conventional testing systems. One wire, two tubes, and the setup job on the Apex Fusion mobile app are all you need to complete the installation; there are instructional videos available to aid you along the process.

Consistency & Precision

For alkalinity testing, the Trident has an accuracy of /- 0.05 dKh and 15 ppm for calcium and magnesium. This is superior to what humans can reliably do with any hobby-grade test equipment that is available today.

Understand Your Reef Tank Link Never Before

You will be astounded by what you can observe happening after the Trident starts sending you frequent data. The impact of the daily light cycle on calcium carbonate absorption. Salt levels fall as you observe magnesium. a calcium dose that is not in time. Having a deeper knowledge can eventually help you manage a reef that is more prosperous.

Instant Alerts

When a parameter veers off the safe zone you define, your Apex can be configured to notify you or take immediate action. For instance, if you are dosing an alkalinity solution, a setup error might cause your tank to be overdosed. That will be detected by the Trident, which will then notify you and allow you extra time to repair it before it is too late and preserve your aquarium. To further secure your tank, you may utilize the data from the Trident to control the operation of other devices (such dosers or solenoids).

Ultimate Stability with the Neptune DŌS

Your corals will develop and thrive more effectively if you consistently maintain the right levels of alkalinity, calcium, and magnesium. However, coral absorption of these supplements frequently varies and necessitates more testing, as well as appearing to place us in a never-ending position of tweaking our dose amounts.

The Trident’s Automatic Dosing Control system, when combined with one or more of our D-S systems, provides a solution to this issue. (ADC)

When set up on the Apex, ADC uses the information it gets from the Trident to gradually increase or decrease the quantity of additive your D.S. provides. We created this function with safety in mind, so don’t worry. With ADC, you may tweak only that dosage level /-35% after setting your goal value and beginning dose. The Apex will stop ADC, revert to your beginning dosing amount, and notify you that you need to manually change your dosage level if it needs additional dosing to maintain your aquarium at your goal value.

After then, ADC may be turned back on and will keep directing your D-S to keep you as near to your target value as feasible.

All three tests—alkalinity, calcium, and magnesium—can be performed using ADC. Additionally, you may utilize a single test value to change the amount of more than one additive given by the DS. (i.e. Triton system).

Simple Reagent Changes

The reagent contained within the Apex will last a full month when utilizing the default testing schedule of four (4) alkalinity, two (2) calcium, and two (2) magnesium tests each day. Simply slide out the drawer, take out the outdated bottle(s), and replace them with the fresh ones to add new reagent. You can also conduct a calibration session using the included calibration standard, if you so want.

We created the Trident with the goal of keeping those expenses as low as possible. The cost of reagents and the recurrent cost is a legitimate issue for a hobbyist contemplating the test kit or automated system. Depending on the standard testing schedule of 4-Alk/2-Ca/2-Mg each day, reagent is sold in 2-month kits.

These kits include a bottle of our calibration seawater sample, two bottles of Reagent A (changed monthly), one bottle of each of Reagent B and C (changed every two months), and two bottles of Reagent A. At least 240 alkalinity tests and 120 calcium and magnesium tests are included in the reagent package. In the US, these two-month packs are only $44.95 each.

Ultra-Quiet Testing

If you pay careful attention or have a really quiet room, you could occasionally hear the Trident operating. It is also a few decibels quieter than comparable automated testing methods. You’re unlikely to hear it because it will be in your cabinet with your other equipment.
