UV Sterilizers

Top Shelf Wave

Ultraviolet sterilizers work by exposing the water that passes through them to intense U.V. radiation. This direct exposure to the harsh lighting can disrupt the biological processes of many common species of bacteria, viruses, algal cells, and unicellular organisms, such as protozoan parasites, that are carried in by the constant influx of water, killing off many immediately. The benefits of utilizing U.V. sterilization can include an overall reduction in nuisance algae, a reduced likelihood of bacterial infections in both fishes and corals, and the ability to disrupt the life cycle of a number of common aquarium pests and parasites, as well as improved overall water clarity. U.V. Sterilizers are practical for both salt and freshwater applications.
